The Sbin/Kosath 10 man

Thank you for all the great advice. I think with a little respeccing we can find the slows we need in our current lineup. Rogues can spec into Deadly Brew and Mages can spec into Slow. I think this was our main problem, we were relying too much on stuns and didn't have enough snares.

Upon further investigation, it loosks to me like every even numbered val'kyr coincides with a defile. The Val'kyr swoops in and a split second later the Lich King targets someone for a defile. To me this means that at these times everyone should be near the center, but spread out around it so that there are no two people on the same path out from the center nor are they on the same path as an existing defile. As soon as the val'kyr scoops up her victim up, the person who gets the defile needs to run to the nearest edge of the platform while everyone else blows cooldowns to drop the val'kyr.

Between these two things I think we have a pretty good shot of getting to Phase 3 on Tuesday. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I should be around for Tuesday (8/10) and Friday (8/13) raids this week. I'll probably be a few minutes late though, so please hold me a spot. Smile

8/10 - We worked hard, and improved throughout the night, however we didn't make any significant progress in getting through Phase 2, as the Deflie/Val'kyr combination continued to be a problem. I feel that missing Fridays, as we have been for a while now, is impairing our preparedness for Tuesdays. It's like we forget everything we worked on the previous week and we keep making the same mistakes which are keeping us from practicing the later parts of the fight.

It seemed that the slowing effeccts did help quite a bit on getting the Val'kyrs down before they dropped their victims. However having melee be the only ones that can slow, hampers our ability to deal with them concurrently with a Deflie as melee following a Val'kyr could drop a defile right on it which could chain to other melee. Very frustrating.

We're in need of another tank on Friday if we're to be able to raid. It would be wonderful if we could find a tank that could just be on permanent backup for our tanks as well.

Looking over the roster for 6/13 we're a bit short on people with snaring capabilities. Alissandre could respec 1 point over into Slow, but otherwise we have hunters and a Demonology lock. Melikar said she was likely to be there on Friday so I'd say get her in if we can.

I'd like to just put it out there that I can also bring Rawne if we need a rogue for crippling poison and slows. He's equipped adequately for ICC 10.

We were short of people again on 8/13 so no raid. Sbin brought up the fact that he's only going to be around for the next three raids. We should start talking about how we'll continue the raid after he leaves for Korea.

I feel bad because I know Jaba works hard to put these raids together and they just don't pan out. Sad

Regardless, here's to hoping we can make some awesome progression in the next three raids. I should be around for both Tuesday (8/17) and Friday (8/20). Heck, if people have the free time, I would even be up for an additional night this week if possible.

Also, I know Kosath said he'd at least be late on Tuesday and I can attempt to tank the first few tries until he can get there. Or Deathbull can if he's going to be about and then bring Nef later. All suggestions, of course.

I should add a bittersweet coda to this thread.

The raid was finally able to down Arthas 10 man in a beautiful battle. I got to watch over Alissandre's shoulder, and it was truly a glorious fight. Also, the win occurred before Jaba went on hiatus. so he got to bring his run to culmination.

The bittersweet part is that a small number of raid regulars were not there, including Dentik and Melikar.

So, if there is any motion to get a "rotation" for the kill going, please be sure to ask and include the guildies who have been part of these ten mans and have yet to finish.

Thanks!

Dentik got his last week with our group (aka Donalzon's Dirty Dozen Deleting Deuce). Hopefully we can get Mel hers on the next cycle.

As I said before, I'm pretty sure I'm the only raider left who doesn't have a title. Way for me to feel left out. Sad

Actually once I am back from travel I would like to send out raid invites for tuesdays again. There are several we would like to get through and I think we can make it happen. Ideally this would start next tuesday, but it's going to be a busy weekend. We will see how it pans out.

I don't have Kingslayer either, Melikar.

I was not trying to make you (or anyone) feel left out, trying to make sure we all get included, as we want to! personally, I was *far* more concerned that Alissandre get her title. (Though I sure would like it as well!)

Oh, and I cannot make Tuesday 10 man, I have a 25 man that night.
Still, please feel free to set a raid up and enjoy!

This may come across the wrong way but is it possible, since we have to go through the content to get to the lich king again, for this to be a bit more alt friendly? I am struggling to keep playing the game and I think a serious role change might appease the desire to just drop until Cataclysm. I would very much like to see everyone get the chance to fight the fight and strut around as Kingslayers.

Does this come across as too selfish???

Personally, I don't see an issue "alting" through most of the instance, as long as the alt /raid overall is geared enough to not be a burden to the encounter (since demoralization and low confidence is the #1 reason that raids fail).

I have personally set my own barrier that I will only begin to bring toons with all 232 (and higher) gear into ICC as to not be an issue.

I would suggest that for ~ Sindr/Arthas that mains / very well-geared toons be encouraged due to the nature and difficulty of the fight.

On the other hand, I am 2 cents in the wind and just giving my opinion.

An alt run would actually make me happy. Mel really only has to go through ICC for the Lich King at this point.

I was hoping to get Kardwel some better healing gear and I wanted to understand more about raid healing. I actually think I may be switching to Kard as a more solid raiding character come Cataclysm.
